The aim of this thesis is to define in detail the relationship between Lovecraft's work and Harman's object-oriented ontology, with an emphasis on the text Weird Realism: Lovecraft and Philosophy. For this purpose, I have divided this thesis into three thematic parts. The first part provides a detailed insight into Lovecraft's legacy, taking into account his predecessors, the context of his time, and its impact on the present day. In the second part, I discuss speculative realism in general, of which object- oriented ontology is a part, focusing primarily on its basic premises and presenting the intellectual constructs of its founding members (Brassier, Meillassoux, Grant, and Harman). In this part, I also pay attention to the question of why Harman chosen Lovecraft's artistic work instead of the work of another thinker. The third part is a synthesis of the previous two. By this point, the reader is already familiar with Lovecraft's work, or at least with those aspects that are relevant to Harman's own interpretation, as well as with the intellectual background of object- oriented ontology and speculative realism in general. This section also defines in which way, according to Harman, Lovecraft replaces the existing archetypes of "traditional" philosophy. Above all, however, I deal here with the...en_US
