Genderová analýza animovaného filmu Zootropolis: Město zvířat

Abstract

Gender related issues (roles, representations, and stereotypes) play an increasingly significant role in contemporary social discourse. In modern society, media have become a powerful tool for shaping collective identity and significantly influence our understanding of what it means to be a man, a woman, or a member of another gender identity. Through films, television, advertisements, and the internet, media present us with patterns of behavior and relationships that not only reflect but also shape cultural norms and values. Cinematic production, therefore, offers a valuable space for exploration, as the way characters are portrayed, the roles they are assigned, and the broader cultural and social contexts in which they are embedded all have a direct impact on shaping viewers' perceptions of gender. The aim of this thesis is to analyze how the animated film Zootopia (2016) reflects gender related issues. The analysis will focus on key characters and categories within the film, as well as their mutual interactions. Otázky spojené s genderem (role, reprezentace a stereotypy) hrají stále významnější roli v současném společenském diskurzu. Média se v moderní společnosti stávají čím dál tím významnějším nástrojem pro formování kolektivní identity a ovlivňují naše chápání toho, co znamená být mužem, ženou či příslušníkem jiné genderové identity. Prostřednictvím filmů, televize, reklam nebo internetu nám média předkládají modely chování a vztahů, které nejen odrážejí, ale také utvářejí kulturní normy a hodnoty. Filmová tvorba proto nabízí zajímavý prostor ke zkoumání, protože způsob, jakým jsou ve filmech zobrazovány postavy, role, které jim jsou přisuzovány a širší kulturní a společenský kontext, do něhož jsou zasazeny, má přímý dopad na formování a utváření diváckého vnímání genderu. Cílem této práce je analyzovat, jak se genderová témata odrážejí v animovaném filmu Zootropolis:Město zvířat (v originále Zootopia, 2016). Analýza se zaměří na klíčové postavy a kategorie ve filmu a jejich vzájemné interakce. Hlavní snahou této práce bude zodpovězení otázky, zda film Zootropolis přispívá k udržování genderových stereotypů, nebo zda otevírat nové perspektivy, které podporují rovnost a diverzitu.
