Alternativní nakladatelství Adolescent, jeho profil a autorstvo

Abstract

This thesis examines the activities and media representation of Adolescent, an alternative publishing house that defines itself as independent, bibliophilic, queer, and engaged. The primary objective of this study is to contextualize Adolescent within contemporary publishing practices and the book market, explore its unique characteristics, and identify the themes attracting attention from literary criticism. A further aim is to discover whether selected titles published by Adolescent can be categorized within current literary movements and trends. The theoretical part of this thesis is dedicated to methodology, literary criticism, contemporary Czech literature, the publishing landscape, and queer literature. The analytical part introduces the Adolescent publishing house through a semi-structured interview with its founder, Aleš Kauer. This is followed by a qualitative content analysis of two titles published by Adolescent: the anthology Toto je môj coming out (2022) and Jan Horský's debut collection Fosfény (2023). The analysis also includes research and interpretation of their media responses. Diplomová práce se zabývá činností a mediální reflexí alternativního nakladatelství Adolescent, které se profiluje jako nezávislé, bibliofilské, queer a angažované. Hlavním cílem práce je představit toto nakladatelství v kontextu současné nakladatelské praxe a knižního trhu, prozkoumat jeho specifika a pojmenovat témata, kterých si všímá literární kritika. Dalším cílem je zjistit, zda lze vybrané tituly zařadit do některých ze současných literárních směrů a trendů. Teoretická část práce se věnuje metodologii, literární kritice, současné české literatuře, nakladatelské scéně a queer literatuře. V analytické části je nakladatelství Adolescent představeno na základě polostrukturovaného rozhovoru se zakladatelem Alešem Kauerem. Následuje kvalitativní obsahová analýza dvou titulů, které nakladatelství vydalo: antologie Toto je môj coming out (2022) a debutové sbírky Fosfény Jana Horského (2023). Součástí analýzy je i rešerše a interpretace jejich mediálních ohlasů. Výsledky analýzy titulů naznačují, že oba představují přínos pro queer komunitu i širší společenskou diskusi. Vydání antologie Toto je môj coming out bylo ze strany nakladatelství Adolescent přímočaře angažovaným gestem - na tento rozměr se nejčastěji zaměřovaly i mediální ohlasy.
