The thesis explores work motivation among social workers who support individuals with mental illnesses. The objective of the thesis is to identify the factors that motivate these professionals to carry out their work. To achieve this aim, the thesis combines theoretical insights with quantitative research, conducted via an online questionnaire based on The Work Extrinsic and Intrinsic Motivation Scale WEIMS questionnaire. The findings of this thesis indicate that the overall level of motivation among social workers in this field is relatively high. However, many participants reported a subjective decline in motivation over time. The most significant motivators were the meaningfulness of the work, the opportunity to help others, and the acquisition of new work experience. Among the extrinsic motivators, respondents highlighted the importance of a supportive work environment, organizational culture, flexible working hours, and recognition from their supervisors. Conversely, financial compensation was identified as the least motivating factor, with widespread dissatisfaction expressed in this regard. The thesis also addresses various barriers and potential forms of support that may influence work motivation among social workers working with people with mental illnesses.en_US
