This bachelor thesis deals with the topic of the representation of senior from Baby boomers' generation in TV commercials of cosmetic brands. The aim is to find out how seniors are represented and addressed in advertising, and whether they are being neglected as a target group, even though they represent a rapidly growing and economically powerful group. The research uses a quantitative content analysis method complemented by semi-structured interview. It analyses cosmetic TV advertisements on the most watched commercial TV channels in the Czech Republic in February and March 2025. The results show that the representation of seniors in cosmetic advertising is relatively high, especially compared to their number in the Czech population. At the same time, there is a tendency to portray the elderly in a generally more positive image without ageist stereotypes. However, there are still some limitations, especially in terms of the representation of seniors in leading roles, the authentic portrayal of old age and the involvement of seniors of the fourth age.en_US
Výzkum využívá metody kvantitativní obsahové analýzy doplněné o polostrukturovaný rozhovor a analyzuje kosmetické televizní reklamy na nejsledovanějších komerčních televizních kanálech v České republice v únoru a březnu roku 2025. Nadále však přetrvávají určité limity, zejména pokud jde o zastoupení seniorů v hlavních rolích, autentické zobrazení stáří a zapojení seniorů čtvrtého věku.cs_CZ
