Previous studies examining the negative effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on cancer incidence and stages of cancer mainly used data from the first months of the pandemic. However, comprehensive research on this topic in the context of the Czech Republic remains limited. This thesis aims to explore whether a negative impact can also be observed in the Czech Republic and extends the existing literature by incorporating data from subsequent years to assess whether the effects persisted over time. Descriptive statistics were used to analyse changes in incidence, and an ordinal logistic regression was applied to the stages of cancer to preserve its ordinal scale. A small decrease in newly detected cases was observed in 2020, with the recovery period lasting two years (up to 2022). Moreover, people diagnosed during the pandemic years had slightly higher odds of being in an advanced stage compared to those diagnosed in 2019. The adverse impact of the COVID-19 pandemic period on early cancer detection is further magnified by the contrasting trend observed during the pre- pandemic period (2015-2018). During that time, the odds of early detection increased. dc.description.abstractPředchozí studie, které se zabývaly vlivem pandemie COVID-19 na incidenci a stádia rakoviny, využívaly zejména data z prvních měsíců pandemie.
