Formování a první léta Tělocvičné jednoty Sokol Mělník

Abstract

The bachelor thesis entitled Formation and the First Years of the Sokol Mělník looks at a significant national phenomenon of the 19th century from a local perspective. It investigates this local organization's activities and its real impact both on the public and the association itself. It verifies the fulfilment of the Sokol movement's vision on an example of the Mělník unit. Given the geographical location of Mělník, the analysis of the history of a Czech national association, which the Sokol undoubtedly is, seems necessary to consider the national issues and their impact on the functioning of this all-age gymnastics organisation itself. In the broader context, the introductory part of the thesis is devoted to a more general introduction of the Sokol's idea, its physical education and social activities. The next sections of the thesis deal directly with the Mělník background which was necessarily affected by the Sokol headquarters' activities.

Bakalářská práce s názvem Formování a první léta tělovýchovné jednoty Sokol Mělník nahlíží na významný národní fenomén 19. století z lokální perspektivy. Zkoumá činnosti místní organizace a její reálné působení na veřejnosti i uvnitř spolku. Ověřuje naplňování vize sokolského hnutí na příkladu mělnické jednoty. Vzhledem ke geografické poloze Mělníka je nutné v analýze dějin českého národního spolku, jakým Sokol bezpochyby je, zohlednit i národnostní otázku a její dopad na fungování samotné tělocvičné organizace. Pro lepší kontext je úvodní část práce věnována obecnějšímu představení ideje Sokola a jeho tělovýchovné a společenské činnosti. Další oddíly práce věnuji přímo mělnickému prostředí, které však stejně bylo nutně ovlivňováno děním v ústředí Sokola.
