Genderové aspekty vnímání soukromí na sociální síti Instagram

Abstract

Qualitative research thesis explores the topic of online privacy, adding a gender perspective to the existing body of knowledge. Based on a thematic analysis of interviews with fifteen men and fifteen women, it provides insights into the gender specificities of the perception of privacy on Instagram social network. Social networks, privacy and related gender aspects are first discussed from a theoretical perspective. The methodological part then presents the chosen methods for conducting the actual research. Presented in the analytical part, the results of the analysis of the data from the qualitative interviews provide an understanding of which topics women and men perceive as personal and what strategies they adopt to protect and regulate their privacy. Furthermore, they describe how men and women perceive the privacy threats and the audience of their Instagram profiles. Finally, insights into what they themselves claim to influence their attitudes on these topics are also included. Gender specificities were found particularly in relation to sharing photos of oneself and using anonymity as a means of regulating privacy. Kvalitativní diplomová práce se věnuje tématu online soukromí a dosavadní poznatky v této oblasti doplňuje o genderovou perspektivu. Na základě tematické analýzy rozhovorů uskutečněných s patnácti muži a patnácti ženami přináší poznatky o genderových specifikách vnímání soukromí v prostředí sociální sítě Instagram. Sociální sítě, soukromí a s nimi spojené genderové aspekty jsou nejprve popsány z teoretického hlediska. V metodologické části jsou následně představeny postupy zvolené pro uskutečnění vlastního výzkumu. Výsledky analýzy dat vzešlých z kvalitativních rozhovorů, které prezentuje analytická část, přináší porozumění tomu, jaká témata vnímají ženy a muži jako osobní a jaké strategie volí pro ochranu a regulaci svého soukromí. Dále popisují, jak muži a ženy vnímají rizika ohrožení soukromí a publikum svých instagramových profilů. Nechybí ani poznatky o tom, co jejich postoj k těmto tématům podle nich samotných ovlivňuje. Genderová specifika byla zjištěna zejména v souvislosti se sdílením fotek sebe samých a využíváním anonymity k regulaci soukromí. Muži a ženy také vyjadřovali rozdílné obavy z narušení svého soukromí, a to mimo jiné také v souvislosti s nežádoucím sledováním ze stran autorit, které problematizovaly především ženy.
