Komparace separatistických organizací ETA a IRA

Abstract

This thesis focuses on two separatist organisations, the Basque ETA and the Irish IRA. The thesis uses the method of comparative analysis, therefore, it aims to find out what were the similarities and differences between the separatist organisations. Among other things, the thesis looks at the development of Basque and Irish nationalism and examines the historical background of both conflicts, as the origins of both conflicts are very important for the comparison itself. Both the Basque ETA and the Irish IRA are in fact the best known modern separatist organisations that were active in Europe in the second half of the 20th century, and it is safe to say that they left their tragic mark on both Spanish and British territory, alternately changing the political situation in both countries. Although the thesis also explores and develops Irish and Basque nationalism, the primary aim of the thesis is to compare ETA and the IRA, from the period of their emergence. The temporal dimensions of the comparison will be slightly different for the two organisations, as ETA will be examined from 1959, the year of its foundation. Tato bakalářská práce se věnuje dvěma separatistickým organizacím, kterými jsou baskická ETA a irská IRA. V práci se využívá metoda komparativní analýzy, tudíž má za úkol zjistit, jaké byly podobnosti a v čem se lišily dané separatistické organizace. Práce se mimo jiné věnuje vývoji baskického a irského nacionalismu a zkoumá historické předpoklady obou konfliktů, jelikož zárodek obou konfliktů je pro samotnou komparaci velmi důležitý. Baskická ETA i irská IRA jsou v podstatě nejznámějšími moderními separatistickými organizacemi, které byly aktivní na území Evropy v druhé polovině 20. století a lze s jistotou říct, že jak na území Španělska, tak na území Velké Británie, zanechaly svou tragickou stopu a v obou státech střídavě měnily politickou situaci. Ačkoliv se práce věnuje také zkoumání a vývoji irského a baskického nacionalismu, primárním cílem práce je komparovat ETA a IRA, a to od období jejich vzniku. Časové rozměry komparace budou u obou organizací trochu jiné, jelikož ETA bude zkoumána od roku 1959, což byl rok jejího založení. U IRA je počátkem moderního konfliktu rok 1969 a vznik Prozatímní irské republikánské armády (zkráceně PIRA), avšak původ této organizace sahá až k Irským dobrovolníkům, kteří hráli klíčovou roli při Velikonočním povstání v roce 1916.
