(Dis)kontinuita německo-amerických vztahů během éry Donalda Trumpa

Abstract

The bachelor thesis focuses on German-American relations during the era of Donald Trump, i.e., during the campaign for the 2016 US presidential election and especially during the 45th US president's term in office. It addresses the question of how the relations in particular political sectors were changed, taking into account the history of the issues. The thesis is an empirical analysis. It aims to confirm or refute the hypothesis that states continued in their military cooperation, despite the political break-up. Furthermore, it aims to prove that bad political relations had little to no effect on cooperation between the militaries of the countries. Deteriorating relations between the US and Germany were not an exception in the Euro-Atlantic region. There was a deterioration in the relations between most Western European states and the US. However, it was not as serious as in the case of the US and Germany. The relationship between Germany and the US has probably experienced the biggest rift since the beginning of modern relations between the states, i.e., since 1949. The political rift was mutual, as Germany was one of Trump's main targets of criticism. Bakalářská práce se zabývá německo-americkými vztahy během éry Donalda Trumpa, tedy během kampaně před americkými prezidentskými volbami v roce 2016 a zejména během výkonu mandátu 45. prezidenta USA. Zabývá se otázkou, jak se konkrétně změnily vztahy v jednotlivých politických sektorech, s přihlédnutím k minulosti dané problematiky. Práce je empirická analýza a klade si za cíl potvrdit, či vyvrátit tezi, že navzdory politickému rozchodu, státy dále spolupracovaly ve vojensko-bezpečnostní oblasti a na kooperaci mezi armádami zemí neměly špatné politické vztahy skoro žádný vliv. Zhoršené vztahy mezi USA a SRN nebyly v euroatlantické oblasti výjimkou, neboť ve vztazích většiny západoevropských států a USA došlo ke zhoršení, ale ne tak výraznému, jak v případě USA a Německa. Ve vztazích mezi SRN a USA došlo zřejmě k největšímu rozkolu od počátku moderních vztahů mezi státy, tedy od roku 1949. Politický rozchod byl vzájemný, Německo bylo jednou z hlavních zemí Trumpovy kritiky a německá politická scéna, s výjimkou AfD, se zcela neztotožňovala s politikou Donalda Trumpa. Na druhou stranu, pokračovala vojensko-bezpečnostní spolupráce a na kooperaci mezi armádami neměl politický rozchod skoro žádný vliv. Teze práce byla tedy potvrzena.
