v anglickém jazyce This rigorous thesis deals with the legal regulation of road traffic offences in the Czech Republic. It is a specific criminal activity. The perpetrators are usually persons with a good repute, who live an orderly life and are not inclined to criminal activity. Criminal liability is often incurred by causing a traffic accident with serious consequences. Yet, driving a motor vehicle is an everyday part of life for most of the adult population. This issue can therefore affect any of us. There is no separate title in the Special Part of the Criminal Code which contains specific legislation on road traffic offences. Conduct that undermines road safety is punishable under the general offences, which can be committed in other than road transport-related circumstances. The aim of this thesis is to provide the reader with an analysis of the legal regulation of road traffic offences from the perspective of substantive criminal law, to highlight current practical problems and to offer de lege ferenda considerations on possible solutions to the shortcomings of the current legislation. v českém jazyce Tato rigorózní práce se zabývá právní úpravou trestných činů v silniční dopravě v České republice. Jedná se o specifickou trestní činnost. Pachatelé jsou zpravidla dosud bezúhonné osoby, které žijí řádným životem a nemají sklony k trestné činnosti. Trestní odpovědnost mnohdy vzniká zaviněním dopravní nehody se závažnými následky. Řízení motorového vozidla je přitom každodenní součástí života většiny dospělé populace. Tato problematika se proto může dotknout kohokoliv z nás. Ve zvláštní části trestního zákoníku není vyčleněna samostatná hlava, která by obsahovala specifickou právní úpravu trestných činů v silniční dopravě. Jednání, které narušuje bezpečnost silničního provozu, je postihováno podle obecných trestných činů, kterých se lze dopustit i jinak než v souvislosti se silniční dopravou. Cílem této rigorózní práce je poskytnout čtenáři rozbor právní úpravy trestných činů v silniční dopravě z hlediska trestního práva hmotného, upozornit na aktuální praktické problémy a případně nabídnout úvahy de lege ferenda o možném řešení nedostatků současné právní úpravy.
