The wind map of the Czech Republic at a height of 100 m above surface was calculated for the purpose of wind energy potential evaluation. The applied approach combines the abilities of three models: the VAS statistical method, the WAsP program and model designed for applications in wind energy, and the PIAP numerical flow model. The calculations were performed individually for the „hybrid model“ VAS/WAsP, which combines the VAS method and the WAsP model, and for the PIAP model. The final wind map is a combination of those two results in the ratio of 7:3. The results of PIAP were originally taken from a height of 10 m and were re-calculated for a 100 m height by the WAsP model. The highest possible number of available wind measurements in the Czech Republic were taken into account during the calculation of the VAS/WAsP model, including the measurements on temporary wind masts and the wind data from automated emission monitoring (AEM) stations. A verification of the wind map using new independent wind measurements, obtained after the wind map calculation, was performed as well.cs
