Hledání nečitelného těla. Tělo jako způsob myšlení literárních děl

Abstract

The work discusses the relation between the body and literature. Interpreting selected works of 19th and 20th centuries, it both explores and refines the presumption of the body presenting for literature not merely a theme or a motif, but, and in some cases primarily, a problem of writing. The body, also, as a shifting, culturally and historically determined concept yields to the same legibility as the language by which it is described. When interpreting works that embrace peripheral, inhuman bodies surpassing the established concepts, these are not - as various symptoms of illegibility - dismissed as failures: they are rather understood as the key stylization writing strategies, motivated by the endeavor to draw nearer to the body, description of which surpasses the language structure of the period. The vanishing point of the survey is thus neither a compact interpretation of the works, nor their contextualization in the literary or cultural history of the body, but rather the body as an inexplicable image that drives the language to the frontier of intelligibility, and beyond. Tato práce se zabývá vztahem literatury a těla. Nad interpretací vybraných děl 19. a 20. století promýšlí a zpřesňuje předpoklad, že tělo pro literaturu nemusí představovat pouze téma či motiv, ale také (a v některých případech především) problém psaní. Dalším předpokladem je, že tělo jako proměnlivý, kulturně a historicky podmíněný koncept podléhá téže srozumitelnosti jako jazyk, který je popisuje. Při výkladu děl, která tematizují periferní, ne-lidská těla vymykající se přijímaným konceptům, proto nejsou různorodé projevy nečitelnosti pomíjeny jako selhání; jsou naopak chápány jako klíčové stylizační strategie psaní vedeného snahou přiblížit se tělu, jehož popis přesahuje uspořádání dobového jazyka. Úběžníkem výkladu není celistvá interpretace děl ani jejich kontextualizace v literární historii či kulturní historii těla, ale tělo jako nevyslovitelný obraz, který svádí řeč k hranici srozumitelnosti, nebo za ni. Takový přístup se spíše než na dílo jako určitý významově a formálně završený celek soustředí na psaní jako pohyb, který dílem pouze prochází. Klade si otázku, může-li být tento pohyb tam, kde opouští čitelnost, gestem ne-lidského těla. Jádrem práce jsou čtyři těla/čtyři interpretace nečitelnosti sbližující dílo s tělem: tělo/těžiště (kyvadlový pohyb mezi dvěma tělesnými popisy, mlčení a melancholie...
