L'abîme de l'imagination. Raison, limite et liberté dans l'esthétique de Kant et de Schelling

Abstract

Résumé Dans ce mémoire nous nous proposons d'étudier l'identification de l'imagination productrice à la raison au sein de l'idéalisme esthétique de Schelling, identification qui nous conduit à proposer, dans ce qui suit, une lecture philosophique « inversée » de la faculté de juger esthétique de la Critique de la faculté de juger (1790) kantienne, basée sur la métaphysique moniste-immanente du Système de l'identité de Schelling (1801-1804). Cette approche de la troisième Critique de Kant caractérise l'originalité de ce mémoire, puisque la lecture traditionnelle du rapport de la Critique de la faculté de juger avec l'idéalisme allemand a soulignée, de Hegel à Lukács ou Hartmann, la centralité de la partie téléologique de l'ouvrage de 1790. Les auteurs de l'idéalisme et du romantisme allemands voyaient principalement dans le jugement téléologique un facteur d'unité entre les domaines théorique et pratique. Ce point de l'argumentation kantienne peut être vu comme un lien entre Spinoza et Hegel en ce qui concerne les concepts d'organisme, de totalité et d'action réciproque, que Hegel met surtout en jeu dans sa conception de système. In this dissertation we propose to study the identification of the productive imagination with reason within Schelling's aesthetic idealism, an identification which leads us to propose, in what follows, an "inverted" philosophical reading of the power of aesthetic judgement of the Critique of the power of judgement (1790) of Kant, based on the monist- immanent metaphysics of Schelling's System of Identity (1801-1804). This approach to Kant's third Critique also demonstrates the originality of this dissertation, since the traditional reading of the Critique of the power of judgement with German idealism has underlined, from Hegel to Lukacs or Hartmann, the centrality of the teleological part of the work of 1790. The authors of German idealism and romanticism mainly saw teleological judgment as a factor of unity between the theoretical and practical domains. This point of the Kantian argument can be seen as a link between Spinoza and Hegel regarding the concepts of organism, totality and reciprocal action, which Hegel mainly brings into play in his conception of a system.
