Proměna vztahů západofranckých králů a Normanů (911-1066)

Abstract

In this work I examine how the relations between the Frankish kings and the Norman dukes changed during the tenth and eleventh centuries. To examine these relationships, I use chronicles of Norman, Frankish and English, which deal with the period. The goal of this work is to better understand the events of the time. Furthermore, the goal is present the possible causes and contexts of some important European events, which I mentioned above, such as the invasion of England and others. The question I want to answer in conclusion is how contemporary authors perceived the relations of West Frankish, later French kings and Viking later Norman dukes before the invasion of William the Conqueror in England in 1066. I also want to find out how these relations and individual personalities are recorded in the sources and what sympathies chroniclers have for them. I solve the mentioned goals and questions through the analysis of the mentioned chronicles and documents. The analysis of these chronicles showed that the relationships I examined were quite variable. Initially, during the reign of Charles, the Norman dukes were rather seen as a threat. V této práci zkoumám jak se v průběhu desátého a jedenáctého století proměňovali vztahy západofranckých králů a normanských vévodů. Ke zkoumání těchto vztahů používám dobové kroniky normanské, franské i anglické, které se zabývají daným obdobím. Cílem této práce je lépe porozumět událostem dané doby. Dále je cílem představit možné příčiny a souvislosti některých důležitých evropských událostí, které jsem zmiňoval výše, jako invaze do Anglie a další. Otázkou na kterou chci v závěru odpovědět, je, jak dobový autoři vnímali vztahy západofranckých, později francouzských králů a vikingských posléze normanských vévodů před invazí Viléma Dobyvatele do Anglie v roce 1066. Také chci zjistit jak jsou tyto vztahy a vůbec jednotlivé osobnosti v pramenech zaznamenány a jaké sympatie k nim mají kronikáři. Zmíněné cíle a otázky řeším skrz rozbor zmíněných kronik a listin. Z rozboru těchto kronik se ukázalo, že mnou zkoumané vztahy bylo dosti proměnlivé. Zpočátku za vlády Karlovců byli normanští vévodové spíše bráni jako hrozba. Ovšem po nástupu Hugo Kapeta na francouzský trůn se Normané stali důležitými spojenci a občas i přáteli panovníků z Paříže.
