Abstract

The bachelor's thesis Comparison of the original sound and Czech dubbing in the TV series Friends deals with the analysis of differences in the original sound and in the dubbing of the American TV series Friends. The Friends series is an American sitcom that aired on NBC from September 22, 1994 to May 6, 2004. The series focuses on the lives of six friends between the ages of 20 and 30 who live in Manhattan, New York City. During the ten years of broadcasting, the show received many awards and became one of the most popular television shows in history. The series has thus become a phenomenon that still affects and entertains viewers around the world. In the Czech Republic, a dubbed version of the TV show began broadcasting on Ceska televize in 1996. The Czech dubbing of the series was directed by Ales Sobotka, led by the creative group of Alena Polednakova and Vladimir Tisnovsky. There are many arguments for and against dubbing or subtitling TV shows. What determines dubbing or subtitling, as the main method of television translation in a country, is influenced by a complex number of factors, such as price, availability of relevant technology, literacy level etc. The overall meaning and context may therefore be quite different from the original version if the translation is dubbed or subtitled. Bakalářská práce Komparace originálního zvuku a českého dabingu v seriálu Přátelé se zabývá analyzováním rozdílů v originálním znění a v dabingu amerického seriálu Přátelé. Seriál Přátelé je americký sitkom, který byl vysílaný na televizní stanici NBC od 22. září 1994 do 6. května 2004. Seriál je zaměřený na život šesti přátel ve věku od 20 do 30 let, kteří žijí na Manhattanu v New York City. Během deseti let vysílání obdržel pořad spoustu cen a stal se jedním z nejpopulárnějších televizních pořadů v historii. Seriál se tak stal fenoménem, který dodnes ovlivňuje a baví diváky po celém světě. V České republice se dabovaná verze pořadu začala vysílat v roce 1996 na České televizi. Český dabing seriálu byl režírován Alešem Sobotkou, pod vedením tvůrčí skupiny Aleny Poledňákové a Vladimíra Tišnovského. Existuje mnoho argumentů pro i proti dabování či titulkování televizních pořadů. Jaká metoda překladu bude tedy v zemi použita je ovlivněno složitou řadou faktorů, jako je například cena, dostupnost příslušné technologie, úroveň gramotnosti atd. Celkový význam a kontext může být tedy značně odlišný od originální verze, jedná-li se o překlad dabingový či titulkový.
