Zobrazení mužského a ženského těla ve fotografiích časopisu SOFFA

Abstract

The thesis focuses on the depiction of masculinity and feminity in the photographs of Czech slow living magazine SOFFA. The main research question is: How are men and women portrayed in SOFFA. The research method of this work is a quantitative content analysis using the categories of gender display by Erving Goffman and Mee-Uen Kang. Based on the research question, six hypotheses are proposed to identify trends in the representation of feminity and masculinity. 542 photographs of people from selected issues of SOFFA magazine are subjected to content analysis. Theoretical studies used as a source of increasing theoretical sensitivity are presented in the theoretical part of this thesis. Research findings confirm that the analyzed lifestyle magazine recognizes and promotes existing images of femininity and masculinity, tends to depict women as weak and subordinate, but also seeks to extend rigid boundaries of stereotypes through the tendency to portray men as passive and submissive.

Tato diplomová práce je zaměřena na zobrazování maskulinity a feminity na fotografiích českého slow living časopisu SOFFA. Základní výzkumnou otázkou je: Jak jsou zobrazeni muži a ženy v časopisu SOFFA. Výzkumnou metodou této práce je kvantitativní obsahová analýza s využitím kategorií zobrazení genderu Ervinga Goffmana a Mee-Uena Kanga. Na základě výzkumné otázky je stanoveno šest hypotéz, které předpokládají trendy v zobrazování feminity a maskulinity. Obsahové analýze je podrobeno 542 fotografií lidí z vybraných čísel časopisu SOFFA vybraných z let 2013 až 2017. Odborná literatura, která byla využita, jako zdroj zvyšování teoretické citlivosti je prezentována v teoretické části této diplomové práce. Závěry výzkumu potvrzují, že analyzované periodikum životního stylu rozpoznává a propaguje existující představy o feminitě a maskulinitě, zobrazuje ženu jako slabou a podřízenou, ale zároveň se snaží také rozšířit rigidní hranice stereotypů prostřednictvím tendenci k zobrazení muže jako pasivního a submisivního.
