Abstract

This bachelor thesis provides a translation of a selected section from the book The History of Armenia, published in 2007. Written by Simon Payaslian, an American Armenologist, this publication presents a comprehensive overview of Armenian history. The selected section deals with Armenia's ancient history. The second part of the thesis contains a commentary on the translation, which includes the original text analysis, the description of translation method and translation problems along with their solutions as well as the typology of translation procedures and shifts. Tato bakalářská práce zprostředkovává překlad vybrané části z publikace amerického historika Simona Payasliana The History of Armenia, vydané v roce 2007. Daná práce představuje ucelený přehled o dějinách Arménie, přičemž k překladu byla zvolena část pojednávající o období starověku. Druhou částí bakalářské práce je komentář k překladu, jenž zahrnuje překladatelskou analýzu originálu, překladatelskou metodu, popis překladatelských problémů včetně jejich řešení a také typologii překladatelských postupů a posunů.
