Problematika stavby zdi na americko-mexické hranici za Trumpovy administrativy v průběhu prvních dvou let jeho prezidentství: politická rétorika a realita

Abstract

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou stavby zdi na americko-mexické hranici během dvou let prezidentského úřadu Donalda Trumpa (20. ledna 2017-20.ledna 2019). Konkrétně se věnuje analýze rétoriky Trumpova slibu týkající se stavby zdi a porovnává ji s realitou na americko-mexické hranici. Práce zjišťuje, proč realita na hranici po dvou letech neodpovídá předešlé rétorice, do jaké míry tyto sliby byly naplněny a na jaké problémy stavba hraniční zdi narazila. Největším problémem se stalo financování zdi, kdy Kongres odmítl schválit peníze a tato vyhrocená situace vedla až ke stavu tzv. shutdownu. Pro demokraty včele s Nancy Pelosiovou a Charlesem Schumerem je nesmírně důležité, že v rámci shutdownu drželi pospolu a ukázali, jak bude pro Trumpa těžké dosáhnout svého. Na hranici bylo v roce 2017 postaveno na testování osm prototypů zdí. Žádná zeď na základě těchto prototypů nebyla do dnešního dne postavena či financována Kongresem. Naopak v únoru 2019 došlo k jejich zbourání a odstranění.

This bachelor thesis deals with the problem of building a wall on the US-Mexican border during two years of Donald Trump's presidency (January 20, 2017 - January 20, 2019). In particular, it analyzes the rhetoric of Trump's promise to build a wall and compares it to the reality of the US-Mexican border. The thesis finds out why the reality at the border after two years does not correspond to the previous rhetoric, to what extent these promises have been fulfilled and to what problems the construction of the border wall has encountered. The biggest problem was the financing of the wall, when Congress refused to approve the money and this escalating situation led to a shutdown. It is extremely important for Democrats, with Nancy Pelosi and Charles Schumer, that they stayed together in the shutdown and showed how hard it would be for Trump to reach his plan. Eight wall prototypes were built on the border in 2017 for testing. No wall based on these prototypes has been built or funded by Congress to date. On the contrary, in February 2019 they were demolished and removed.
