Název práce: Vytěsněná apokalypsa - česká reflexe ústupu německé skupiny armád Střed Autor: Mgr. Tomáš Jakl Abstrakt: Jsou válečná tažení, která jdou popsat jednoduše, jiná obtížně a některé nejde rekonstruovat plynulým vyprávěním vůbec. Události v českých zemích v prvních dvou květnových týdnech roku 1945 patří k těm obtížně popsatelným. To, že se zde nacházela poslední německá bojeschopná skupina armád, je všeobecně známo. Také se běžně ví, že šlo o skupinu armád Střed, které velel polní maršál Ferdinand Schörner. Podstatně méně je známo, že následkem vypuknutí Českého povstání tato skupina armád ustoupila přes povstalecké území k demarkační linii mezi americkou a Rudou armádou. Poslední zoufalou iluzí německých vojáků bylo, že se spojí s Američany a společně vyženou Rusy z Evropy. Spojenecký vrchní velitel na Západě, generál Dwight David Eisenhower, nehodlal po smrti amerického prezidenta Roosevelta udělat nic, co by si sovětský diktátor mohl vykládat byť jen jako náznak podobného vývoje. Nejenže zakázal generálu Pattonovi překročit předem se sověty dohodnutou demarkační linii v Čechách, opticky vstříc ustupujícím Němcům, ale americké jednotky sovětům také vydaly zajaté německé vojáky z jednotek, které bojovaly na východní frontě.
