Vliv sira Francise Walsinghama na zahraniční politiku alžbětinské Anglie

Abstract

This bachelor thesis depicts the life of Sir Francis Walsingham focusing on his activity within the framework foreign policy of Elisabethan England. It briefly describes the circumstances that lead him to the path of a diplomat and secretary of Queen Elisabeth I. The main part lies within the years 1570-1590 when he became an active member of the inner cicle surrounding the queen. Using primary sources and literature, this thesis aims to evaluate to what extend Walsingham influenced the course of England. Furthermore, it depicts the network of informant he was in charge of and later it addresses his legacy as the founder of the modern espionage.

Tato práce mapuje život Sira Francise Walsinghama s důrazem na jeho činnost v rámci zahraniční politiky alžbětinské Anglie. Stručně se zabývá okolnostmi, které jej přivedli na dráhu Alžbětina diplomata a tajemníka. Hlavní část je ohraničena lety 1570-1590, kdy se Walsingham postupně stal aktivním členem královnina nejbližšího okruhu. S využitím pramenů a odborné literatury se práce snaží přiblížit, do jaké míry osobně ovlivňoval směřování Anglie. Dále se soustředí na síť informátorů, které velel a na závěr se tato práce pokouší analyzovat jeho odkaz jako zakladatele moderní špionáže.
