This thesis focuses on the first liver transplants in Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic from the perspective of their first recipients. The primary research method is oral history, which uses interviews to capture the personal experiences of a man and a woman who underwent liver transplants in different decades. The aim of the thesis is to document their life stories and the circumstances that led to the transplant, as well as the impacts this procedure had on their later lives-both physically and psychologically-and to compare these findings. Hlavní výzkumnou metodou je orální historie, díky níž je skrze rozhovory zachycena osobní zkušenost muže a ženy, kteří transplantaci jater podstoupili v různých dekádách. Cílem práce je zmapovat jejich životní příběhy a okolnosti, jež vedly k transplantaci, případně dopady, které tento zákrok měl na jejich pozdější život, ať už po fyzické či psychické stránce, a tyto poznatky podrobuje komparaci. Sokol Buštěhrad (1976-2012) This thesis focuses on the development of the T.J. Sokol Bustehrad chess club between 1976 and 2012. Its aim is to map and analyse the transformations of the club during the given period and to show its significance for its members as well as for the local community. The thesis is based primarily on oral history interviews conducted with witnesses and active members of the club. These testimonies are supplemented by written sources, especially period documents, photographs, articles published in the local newsletter and chess periodicals, as well as relevant scholarly literature. The thesis offers insights into the history of the chess club, its sporting and community role, its relationship to T.J. Sokol Bustehrad, and the impact of broader social changes on its functioning. At the same time, it contributes to a deeper understanding of the importance of chess as a social activity in the lives of the inhabitants of Bustehrad during the period under study.; Diplomová práce se zámeruje ná vývoj sáchoveho oddílu T.J. First, creative abductive inference has been viewed as a mechanism for assigning meaning, and this entire work thus represents an attempt to penetrate into what is not certain but rather probable. Second, liminality has been viewed as an inherent property of structures, as is also the case in anthropological literature. Based on anthropological research, the research aim was not limited to the theoretical grounding of semiotically relevant terms from the fields of language, image, and space, but was expanded to include an examination of the experience of liminality. This framework provided an answer to the research question: How are the meanings of liminality constructed not only as an abstract system of signs but also in human experience? The think-aloud protocol method, incorporating visual material, was chosen for data collection. The selection of participants was conducted using snowball sampling. Abductive inference served here as an analytical category, through which it was possible to understand the processes of experiencing liminality and interpret them using a range of other concepts characteristic of anthropological texts on liminality. Kreativní abduktivní inference byla nazírána jako mechanismus přidělování významu, a celá tato práce tak představuje pokus o proniknutí do toho, co není jisté, ale pravděpodobné. Liminalita byla nazírána jako inherentní vlastnost struktur, jak je tomu ostatně i v antropologické literatuře. Na bázi antropologických zkoumání nebyl výzkumný záměr omezen na teoretické ukotvení sémioticky relevantních termínů z oblasti zkoumání jazyka, obrazu a prostoru, nýbrž byl rozšířen o zkoumání zakoušení liminality. Toto ukotvení přineslo odpověď na výzkumnou otázku, jež zněla: Jakým způsobem se významy přechodovosti ustavují nejen jako abstraktní systém znaků, ale také v lidské zkušenosti? K získání dat byla zvolena metoda think-aloud protokolu se zařazením vizuálního materiálu. Volba komunikačních partnerů byla uskutečněna snowball-sampling výběrem. Abduktivní inference zde sloužila jako analytická kategorie, za pomoci které bylo možné uchopit procesy zakoušení liminality a tyto interpretovat prostřednictvím řady dalších, které jsou vlastní antropologickým textům o liminalitě, či chceme-li, přechodovosti. It seeks to answer the question of how these events unfolded, what they meant to the participants involved, and what role she herself played in them, with particular attention to the perspective of her immediate circle and to the ways in which her role was constructed and interpreted by other participants. Specifically, the thesis explores the traditional celebrations of her birthday, the staging of vivid images (tableaux vivants), and particularly the Self-Help People's Library Hrobka, the magazine Novy brak, and the horror film Lilian. The thesis also examines the response to these activities by the State Security (Statní bezpecnost).
