Culture Wars and Their Others: Transformations of Exclusionary Politics in Czechia and Slovakia in the 2010s This volume explores the changing face of Othering in the Czech and Slovak culture wars of the 2010s. From anti-Roma protests and anti-Muslim mobilisations to the rise of anti-gender politics, it examines how political actors construct different groups as threats to the nation, its values, and its way of life. Bringing together perspectives from political science, philosophy, anthropology, and history, the volume traces the culturalisation of political conflict and the shifting boundaries of political belonging. It pays particular attention to the mainstreaming of far-right ideas and the ways exclusionary discourses move beyond the far right and into the political mainstream. By placing Czech and Slovak cases in dialogue, the book offers a multidisciplinary account of Othering and the transformation of political conflict in contemporary Central Europe.

New age, „ezo“, alternativní spiritualita Kostićová, Zuzana Marie Mezi novými spiritualitami Západu vyniká zvláště fenomén, kterému se v angličtině říká new age („hnutí nového věku“) a který si v češtině získal přezdívku „ezo“, a přestože se o něm na veřejnosti hodně mluví, málokdo doopravdy ví, jak vznikl, odkud pochází a jaké má základní vlastnosti. Kniha religionistky Zuzany Marie Kostićové představuje vznik tohoto fenoménu z lůna sekularizace a západního esoterismu, mapuje jeho historický vývoj od šedesátých let po dnešek, charakterizuje jeho nejvýznamnější ideje, a nakonec představuje i jeho instituce a formy spirituální praxe. Cílem knihy přitom není alternativní spiritualitu kritizovat nebo propagovat, ale porozumět jí a pochopit, jak je propojena s dějinami i životním stylem obyvatel současného Západu.

Celý sborník se v různém ohledu věnuje především tématu christianizace a snad trochu překvapivé roli, kterou v tomto procesu hrály ženy. Nejedná se přitom ani o specifikum české či středoevropské, jak pestrost a rozsah příspěvků ukazuje.; The volume Saint Ludmila – Women in the Christianization of Central Europe: Heilige Ludmila – Frauen in der Zeit der Christianisierung Mitteleuropas is a collection of studies presenting the work of a number of researchers who loosely followed up on the international conference of the same name, organized in 2021 on the 1100th anniversary of the martyrdom of Saint Ludmila. The entire collection focuses in various aspects of the topic of Christianization and the perhaps somewhat surprising role that women played in this process. This is not a Czech or Central European specificity, as the variety and scope of the contributions shows.
